Florida's Citizens Property Insurance To Advise Certain Policyholders of New AOB Reform Benefits

In the wake of HB 7065, the 2019 Assignment of Benefits Reform Bill, Florida's Citizens Property Insurance will be mailing specific information to certain current policyholders during February 2020 on what effect these reforms may have on rates.

Florida's new AOB law has changed how certain vendors can receive claims payments.  The Loss Recovery Law Group knows how to save you time and money by expediting the new legal requirements for the process.

The bill, signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis on May 23, 2019, and effective for assignment agreements (commonly referred to as “AOB” contracts) entered into on or after July 1, 2019, places limits and requirements on AOB assignees, such as contractors, roofers and water mitigation companies, and establishes requirements for insurers for claims that involve assignment agreements.  Click here for further information on the legislation’s impact.

Citizens will send letters to:

  • Homeowners 3 – Special Form (CIT HO-3)
  • Dwelling Property 3 – Special Form (CIT DP-3)

The letters include information about the AOB reform and provide policy-specific premium savings based on pre- and post-AOB reform legislation. Citizens will mail the letters on a staggered basis each month throughout 2020.  The letters, which will also be mailed in Spanish, will include Citizens' Assignment of Benefits: What You Need to Know brochure.
